Driver Handbook
This handbook is a plain-English guide for Truked drivers. It summarizes how things work, but it is not a contract: if anything here differs from the Driver Terms and Conditions, the Driver Terms control.

Getting approved
- Apply in the app. Download Truked, tap Drive & Earn, and complete the driver application: your details, your truck, your driver's license, and proof of insurance.
- What you need to qualify: you must be 21 or older, have at least 3 years of licensed driving experience, a valid driver's license, valid personal auto insurance on the truck you'll drive, and a pickup truck in good working condition. Pickup trucks only for now.
- Background check. We use Checkr, a licensed consumer reporting agency, to run a motor vehicle and criminal background check with your consent. You'll complete this on Checkr's secure pages. Most checks finish in a few days.
- Training. Watch the short training videos in the app (about 8 minutes total) and confirm each one. They cover your first delivery, getting paid, staying safe, and adjusting quotes.
- Payout setup. Connect your bank account through Stripe so your earnings have somewhere to go.
- Go online. Once you're approved, you'll see available deliveries near you.
What you earn
- 85% of every delivery fare. You see your exact payout on every job before you accept it.
- 100% of tips. Tips are never split, ever.
- Paid twice a week. Payouts go out Monday and Thursday to your connected bank account through Stripe.
- Extra fees that go to you: if a customer declines your quote adjustment, the job cancels and you receive a $25 rejection fee for the trip out. If a customer cancels late (after the grace window, once you've committed to the job), you receive a $15 cancellation fee.
Taking jobs well
- You choose every job. You see the pickup, drop-off, item, declared value, and your payout before accepting. No shifts, no minimums, no penalties for declining.
- Navigate your way. Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze — your choice.
- Photos protect you. Take the load photo at pickup and the proof-of-delivery photo at drop-off, every time. They are your record that the job was done right, and they matter if there's ever a damage claim.
- Customers help with heavy items. For Large and XL items, the customer is required to help you lift. Never strain to move something alone.
- Cargo only. Truked is for stuff, not people. No passengers, no exceptions.
- Item value cap. Truked doesn't transport items valued over $5,000, and customers declare item value when booking. You'll see the declared value on every job.
When the load doesn't match the listing
If you arrive and the item is bigger than described, don't eat the difference:
- Photograph the actual load first.
- On the job screen, tap Adjust Quote, set what the load really is, and review the adjusted price before sending.
- The customer approves or declines in the app. Most approve — they can see the load too.
- If they decline, the job cancels, you're free to move on, and the $25 rejection fee goes entirely to you.
When things go wrong
- Emergencies: 911 first, always.
- Problems during a delivery (can't reach the customer, locked out, unsafe situation): use the "Problem with this delivery?" button on the active job screen to call Truked support. That button is your fastest path to a human during a delivery.
- Everything else: Help & Support chat in the app. We answer fast.
- If you need to cancel an accepted job, do it as early as possible in the app and pick the reason honestly. The job goes back out to other drivers.
- Damage claims: customers report damage in the app within 3 days of delivery. If a claim involves your delivery, we'll ask for your side — your photos and honest account are exactly what protects you.
- Any vehicle accident or injury during a delivery: make sure everyone is safe, call 911 where warranted, then report it to Truked the same day through support.
Insurance — read this part carefully
- You must carry valid personal auto insurance on the truck you drive, and keep it active. We verify it during your application and it's a condition of driving with Truked.
- Know what your personal policy covers. Most personal auto policies exclude commercial or delivery use. That means your own policy may not cover damage to your truck, or your own injuries, while you're on a delivery.
- Truked's commercial insurance protects customers and third parties when you're on an active delivery. It does not cover damage to your own vehicle or your own medical costs.
- What you can do: many insurers sell an affordable rideshare or delivery-use endorsement for personal policies. We recommend asking your insurance company about one. Your own health insurance is also what covers your own injuries.
- You acknowledged all of this in the insurance attestation during onboarding — this section is the plain-English version of it.
Your truck
- Keep your registration, insurance, and inspection current — you'll be asked to update your insurance in the app before it expires.
- Keep the truck in safe working condition. We check for open safety recalls on your vehicle and will let you know if one needs attention.
Ratings and being a pro
- Customers rate every delivery. High ratings mean more repeat customers, and bonuses when campaigns are running.
- The habits that earn five stars: communicate through the app if anything changes, handle items like they're yours, set the item where the customer wants it, and take clean photos.
- Be the reason someone tells a friend about Truked.
Quick answers
- When do I get paid? Monday and Thursday, automatically, to your connected bank.
- Do I split tips? Never. 100% yours.
- Can I bring a helper? The customer helps with Large/XL loading. Anyone else in your truck on a delivery isn't covered by our insurance — don't do it.
- Can I decline jobs? Yes, freely. No penalty.
- What if the customer isn't home? Use "Problem with this delivery?" to call support before leaving.
- What do I do about a parking ticket or toll? Those are your responsibility as an independent contractor.
- Who do I contact about anything else? Help & Support chat in the app, or support@truked.com.
